Black Economic Empowerment in Nedbank – 2008 Report

The introduction of the Codes of Good Practice (the Codes) under the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act makes it possible for organisations to track their own Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) performance against an agreed set of parameters that are comparable across all organisations that form an integral part of the South African economy.

As a signatory to the Financial Sector Charter (the Charter) established in 2003, Nedbank is not new to the empowerment process. The first steps towards empowerment were taken as far back as 1993 with the negotiation and implementation of an Employee Charter to guide the Bank’s Employment Equity activities.
