GIVING BACK

As part of our commitment to carbon neutrality, Nedbank remains vigilant of our carbon impact on the environment and on our communities and continuously seeks ways in which to minimise our impact on the environment, thereby also uplifting the communities within which we operate.

As such, to mitigate the paper used in the production of the 2008 paper-based Sustainability Report and to offset the carbon emissions associated therewith Nedbank donated 666 trees (calculated following the biodiversity planting formula) to The Wilderness Foundation (South Africa).

The Wilderness Foundation (South Africa) is a conservation organisation that encourages, plans and manages wild lands and wilderness, uplifts the knowledge and lives of historically disadvantaged citizens, and stimulates an environmental ethos among current and future leaders. The Wilderness Foundation (South Africa) has been a pioneer in using wilderness as a positive force for social change in South Africa and has taken over one hundred thousand political, business and community leaders, as well as historically disadvantaged youth, through their programmes.

For more information on The Wilderness Foundation (South Africa) please go to www.wildernessfoundation.org.

Rehabilitation underway in the Baviaanskloof Mega-reserve using a range of plant and tree species, including spekboom, to mimic the natural vegetation associated with specific sites.
