WWF-SA CONSERVATION PARTNERSHIP
Our unique conservation partnership with WWF-SA spans some 18 years. In the last three years, this partnership has been formalised and now sees WWF-SA providing direct input into Nedbank Group’s sustainability and environmental policies, strategies, systems and training.
- Partnership progress in 2008
WWF-SA worked together with Nedbank to draft sector guidelines to assist business with the application of the environmental and social risk management principles as contained in the Equator Principles. This was done within project finance and was extended to other business areas, using a risk-based approach.
- WWF-SA assisted with the review of certain project finance transactions in terms of the Equator Principles, providing an independent assessment of the potential risks and measures required to address such risks.
- WWF-SA assisted with the development of our Climate Change Position Statement and the setting of our intensity reduction targets.
- Nedbank hosted theWWF Corporate Partners’ Breakfast and the National Renewable Energy Conference, a multistakeholder event to stimulate widespread support for rapid national development of renewable energy industries as well as appropriate financing strategies.
